The Charge 5 is the latest wearable device from Fitbit, it’s the successor to Charge 5. This smartband is very compact and lightweight in addition to its all-new design. The case is now made of aluminum and the display is now powered by AMOLED. That’s not all, it also features ECG and an EDA stress app in addition to inbuilt GPS and a handful of other sensors. However, and unfortunately, too, it looks like Fitbit has dropped the altimeter from the Charge 5 which means it won’t be able to count floors climbed.

Fitbit Charge 4 vs 5 – Design and Features Comparison
Design
The design of the Charge 5 is no doubt very much different from its predecessor. Unlike Charge 4 which has a case made of resin, Charge 5 has a case made of aluminum. It also comes with the loop-style straps that were introduced to Versa 3.
The display of Charge 5 is also different from that of Charge 4. While its predecessor has a monochrome OLED display, the Charge 5 has an AMOLED display that is more colorful and twice brighter than that of Charge 4. Although, the Charge 5 has a smaller display size of 1.04 inches.
The Charge 6 also has a 5ATM waterproof rating just like Charge 4. This represents 50 meters which means that you wear any of these to the pool or ocean.
Fitness Tracking
With ECG and an EDA Stress sensor added to the Charge 5, it’s definitely a more comprehensive health and fitness tracker than the Charge 4. Beyond the presence of ECG and the EDA stress app on Charge 5, both smartbands have similar fitness tracking features. Both smartbands will track your heart rate, sleep, calories and steps. Both smartbands also have inbuilt GPS that allows you to track outdoor activities like your routes and locations. You will also get 20 preset sport modes on Charge 4 and 5. And as well Spo2 measurement is available on each of these two. In other words, both smartbands are comprehensive activity trackers, but the Charge 5 is a more comprehensive smartwatch.
Notifications and Reminders
Both smartbands have the ability to help you manage notifications on your phone. With any of these two, you can manage notifications that you receive on your phone. You can also reply to notifications with quick replies on both smartbands.
Battery Life
Surprisingly, the Charge 5 has about the same battery life as Charge 4 despite having a more colorful and brighter display. The Charge 5 has a battery life rating of up to 7 days which is similar to that of Charge 4. So, with any of these, you will get up to 7 days of battery life.
Should You Upgrade?
Clearly, the Charge 5 is a better smartband than Charge 4. It has a better design and a more colorful AMOLED display. The Charge 5 also has more fitness tracking features than Charge 4. It features an ECG and EDA stress app that were only available on Fitbit Sense prior to the release of Charge 5. If these new features make sense to you, then it’s worth upgrading. Nevertheless, Charge 4 is still a decent smartband with a long battery life
