How to Enable Calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and Gmail Notifications on Fitbit Versa 3

Beyond the durable and lightweight design of the Fitbit Versa 3, it also tracks all of your daily activities as well as allows you to manage notifications received on your phone. Just like other Fitbit smartwatches, the Versa 3 and Sense which are the latest from the brand will allow you to receive notifications from apps installed on your phone and you can also reply to a handful of supported apps like WhatsApp and Yahoomail apps. In this post, you will learn how to enable SMS, Calls, WhatsApp, Gmail, and Yahoomail notifications on your Fitbit Sense or Versa 3. This process also applies if you own a Versa 2, Ionic, Charge 5, or Luxe.

How to Enable Calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and Gmail Notifications on Fitbit Versa 3

To enable notifications on your Fitbit Versa 3 or Sense, you will need to do this from the Fitbit app. Follow the steps below to enable notifications on your Versa 3.

  1. Open the Fitbit app, tap on the profile icon at the top left corner and select your Fitbit device from the list. This will take you to the device’s dashboard.
  2. Scroll down to the Notifications section, tap to open. This will take you to the notification’s main menu.
  3. The first option is that for calls, toggle it on to enable notifications for calls. The watch will vibrate and show there’s an incoming call including the caller’s name and number.
  4. To enable notification for select apps, tap on app notifications to select apps you want to receive notifications from. You can enable notifications for all apps installed on your phone, but this will have a greater impact on the device’s battery life. For the purpose of this guide, we’ll select WhatsApp, SMS, Gmail, phone, and Yahoomail apps. When you receive a notification from any of these apps, you’ll get notified on your Versa 3 or Sense. Once you are done selecting, tap on the back arrow at the top to go back to the notification’s main dashboard.

Replying to Notifications on Fitbit Versa 3

You have enabled notifications for select apps. Next is to enable replies. You cannot reply to notifications from every app. From my test, you can reply to WhatsApp, SMS, and Yahoomail notifications with your voice, quick replies, or emojis. To enable voice reply, just toggle on voice reply. Note that the app must be open in the background for you to reply with your voice, awkward I must say.

Next, customize quick replies for each app. Tap on the quick replies section to continue. The next page will show all the apps you have enabled to receive notifications. So, go ahead and click on each one to customize the quick replies.

You can either use the preset replies or customize them, and it’s a maximum of 5. That’s very limited, perhaps Fitbit gets to add more in the future. You can also customize the emoji section by overriding the preset ones with your preferred choices.

When you go back to the main menu of the notifications dashboard, you have the option to select your preferred default apps for SMS, email, and calendar. Make your choices and these will be given special treatment.

Now that you have enabled notifications and customized quick replies. When there is a notification from the select apps, you will get an alert on your Versa 3 or Sense.

If you receive an SMS, you can reply with your voice, quick replies, or emojis. You can also mark as read, open in your phone or clear the message.

Similarly, when you receive a WhatsApp message, you have the options to reply with your voice, quick replies, or emojis. You can also reply to messages from Yahoomail. Unfortunately, you can’t reply to Gmail notifications, you can only archive the message, open on your phone or clear the message.
