How to Reset Galaxy Watch 4 Classic – (Soft and Hard Reset) – A Simple Guide

You can do a soft reset of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic from the watch itself or from the Galaxy Wearable app. Meanwhile, you can do a hard reset of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic only from the device itself.

How to Soft Reset Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

A soft reset will allow you to wipe all your personal data on the watch. Don’t worry, you can backup your data with Samsung cloud which you can restore backup later from your Samsung account. There are two ways you can perform a soft reset on the watch

  • From the watch itself
  • From the Galaxy Wearable app

Both methods follow the same process. To soft reset the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic from the watch

  1. Swipe up and find the settings app.
  2. Select the settings app

  3. Scroll down to where it says general settings.
  4. Select general settings to continue

  5. Scroll down until you see Reset and click on it. You should see a warning prompting you that your personal data will be wiped off. You can back your data as we mentioned above and then tap on reset to reset the watch.

Soft Reset the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic From the Galaxy Wearable app

  1. Open the app, and find where it says watch settings, and tap on it. This will open a new page.
  2. Scroll down to where it says general settings and tap on it.
  3. Scroll down to where it says reset and tap on it. You should get a prompt that your data will be wiped off. Backup if you wish and tap on reset to soft reset the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

How to Hard Reset Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

To hard reset Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, you need to follow a few steps. This is more technical, yet very straightforward and simple. You can only hard reset the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic from the watch and this will wipe all your personal data and user settings.

To hard reset Galaxy Watch 4 Classic,

  1. Press and hold both the power and back buttons at the same time. Keep holding until you see the Samsung logo.

    Once you see the Samsung logo, you need to press and release the power button repeatedly a number of times. This will show an ugly-looking screen. Don’t worry is very simple.

  3. Use the power button to scroll through the options. Note that, it’s only the power button that can be used to scroll through the options in this step. Use the power button and scroll to where it says recovery. Then, press and hold the power button to select recovery. This will take you to the new screen.

  5. Here, only the back button can be used to scroll through the options. Remember we used the power button to scroll in the previous step. So, press the back button to scroll through the list of options. Scroll to where it says wipe off/factory reset. Press the power button once this time to select this option. You should see a prompt that tells you that all your data will be wiped off.

  7. Press the power button to cancel or press the back button to scroll to the factory reset option. Press the power button to select factory reset and this will do a hard reset on the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
  8. Congrats! You have successfully done a hard reset on the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The device will pop a new screen that says reboot. Press and hold the power button to select reboot system and this will reboot the device.
  9. Press and hold power button for a few seconds to reboot system

This will reboot and show up the screen you see when you first switch on the device.
