Difference between Bluetooth vs LTE
- The LTE Model is a Standalone Smartwatch
- The LTE Model is Priced Higher
The difference between the LTE and Bluetooth models is the presence of an eSIM in the LTE model that allows you to make and receive calls, install apps and receive messages without your phone. The LTE model is a standalone smartwatch that possesses cellular capabilities. The Bluetooth model can do everything the LTE model can do, but for you to make and receive calls or receive messages, your phone must be nearby.
As a result of the standalone capabilities of the LTE model, it’s priced higher than the Bluetooth model. It will cost you more money to buy the LTE model. You will also have to pay for monthly or yearly subscriptions depending on your service provider.
- 40mm Bluetooth model cost $249.99
- 44mm Bluetooth model cost $279.99
- 40mm LTE model cost $299.99
- 44mm LTE model cost $329.99
Both the Bluetooth and LTE models of the Galaxy Watch 4 have the same battery capacity. However, when LTE is activated on the LTE model, it will have shorter battery life when compared to Bluetooth. Otherwise, it’s up to 2 days with the 44mm and just over a day with the 40mm size.
Galaxy Watch 4 – Which Model is Available in Your Region?
Before you buy the Galaxy Watch 4 LTE model, endeavor to confirm which LTE model is supported in your country. There are three LTE models for both the 40mm and 44mm sizes.
Galaxy Watch 4 LTE Models
- 44mm: SM-875U, SM-875F, SM-875N
- 40mm: SM-865U, SM-865F, SM-865N
The SM-875U and SM865U are the supported models in the US with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and US cellular as supported carriers.
How Does The LTE Model Work?
The Galaxy Watch 4 LTE model comes with an eSIM, as a result, you are not required to insert any SIM as it has an embedded SIM already. A number is assigned to the eSIM which can be activated from the Galaxy Wearable app. And if you feel you no longer want a particular network, you can simply deactivate it.
Different carriers have different plans and prices. So, contact your service provider to be sure what plans are available for the Galaxy Watch 4. For instance, AT&T, US Cellular, T-mobile, and Verizon are supported in the US.
Bluetooth or LTE Model – Which Should You Buy?
Even though the LTE model is a more comprehensive smartwatch than the Bluetooth model, the Bluetooth model is a far more popular choice among consumers. It’s cheaper and has the same features like the LTE model except that you must carry your phone along if you wish to make and receive calls from the watch.
On the other hand, the LTE model is a standalone smartwatch that gives you some freedom from your phone. It can make and receive calls and will also allow you to install apps and receive messages independent of a smartphone. However, it’ll cost you more money.
