Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 (40mm) LTE vs Bluetooth: Differences
Active 2 (44mm) LTE | Active 2 (44mm) Bluetooth | |
Case Material | Stainless steel | Aluminum |
Strap Material | Leather | Fluoroelastomer |
Colors | Black, Gold, Silver | Aqua-black, Cloud-silver, Pink-gold |
Weight | 42 grams | 30 grams |
Cellular Connectivity | GSM / HSPA / LTE (eSIM | No |
The difference between the LTE and Bluetooth model is that the former has a more durable stainless steel case instead of aluminum used for the Bluetooth model. And while the Bluetooth model comes with fluoroelastomer straps, the LTE model has leather straps that complement it’s stainless steel case and gives it the classic appearance of a traditional watch.
As a result, the Bluetooth model weighs a little less than the 42 grams (excluding straps) LTE model. In other words, the Bluetooth model will make a great choice if you do lots of sport activities as it’s a more comfortable wear. Mind you, each of these two is a very lightweight smartwatch going by an industry average of about 70 grams, but if the slight difference in weight matters to you, then its worth it.
The absence of eSIM in the Bluetooth model is the biggest difference between the two models. The LTE model comes with eSIM that enables cellular connectivity and allows you to make and receive calls, surf the internet, and more directly from the watch independent of your phone. It’s a standalone smartwatch that allows you go out with only your watch and still stay connected.
You can still use the Bluetooth model to make and receive calls, but it must be connected to your phone Bluetooth.
Which Should You Buy?
The Bluetooth model does everything the LTE model can do apart from the differences stated above. If you’re tight on budget, the Bluetooth model is a fantastic choice, it’s the best selling among the two models. However, if the standalone features of the LTE model mean a lot to you, then it’s worth all the money and a better bargain.
